One of the great things about Tunstall beach is that it’s a lesser used sandy beach, but has a huge amount of space so it never feels busy, even in the Summer months. The village of Tunstall is quite small with few amenities so it is never going to be the most visited beach in Yorkshire.

Getting to Tunstall Beach

Getting to Tunstall beach is easy, but finding parking might be an issue as there are no car parks on on-street spaces available.

On foot

One way to see Tunstall beach is to walk from neighbouring Withernsea beach which is easier to navigate to from the likes of Hull, Beverley and York.

By car

With very little parking, you should ideally aim to park in Withernsea and walk along the beach to reach Tunstall beach. For a car park close to the beach, you should use Pier Road Car Park (Withernsea, HU19 2HH).

By bus

You can visit Tunstall beach on the East Yorkshire bus service which runs between Hornsea and Withernsea, although there are only a few buses per day, so you should check the timetable before you set off.

Facilities at Tunstall Beach

There are little to no facilities at Tunstall beach and you may find you have to go to a neighbouring town or village to find the closest facilities and amenities.

Toilets: The nearest toilets to Tunstall beach are located in nearby Withernsea (The Promenade, Withernsea, HU19 2JS).

Washing facilities: Although there are no public showers, you can make use of the public toilet facilities to wash off the sand.

Cafe’s/Restaurants: There’s a wide range of cafes and restaurants in Withernsea to choose from.

Shops: There’s plenty of shops in Withernsea, from Aldi to Poundstretcher, so you can grab some food to make a picnic to take to Tunstall beach with you.

Are dogs allowed at Tunstall Beach?

Dogs are permitted on Tunstall beach all year around (there are no restrictions).

What is there to do at Tunstall Beach

There are no attractions in Tunstall, but nearby Withernsea has Italian Gardens and play parks to keep the little ones occupied.
